Mondo Gecko

I'm not sure if the 1987 cartoon or action figure preceded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #18's introduction of Mondo Gecko but to this day the issue remains one of my favorite in the "Adventures" run.  Drawn by TMNT legend Ken Mitchroney and written by series mainstays Dean Clarrain & Ryan Brown, "Mondo Metal" tells the story of a metalhead couple and their band torn apart by mutation and a fortuitous opportunity for a new life with the turtles for the member forever changed.

I've always been a big fan of the original character design of Mondo and while I applaud the effort to do something different I've much preferred the IDW Comics redesign that ebbs closer to the classic than the new trail blazed by the 2012 animated series version (one of that series' very few missteps / both referenced below).
